Juvenile accused of assaulting woman with fire extinguisher
A young man is facing a list of charges after a bizarre assault Monday afternoon in South Whitehall Twp., Lehigh County.
Police said a 17-year-old boy assaulted a woman in a building at 1620 Pond Road by spraying a fire extinguisher at her, then hitting her with it.
Officials say on his way out, the boy also assaulted two people in the parking lot and damaged two cars.
The woman was treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. The other two victims refused treatment.
Because the fire extinguisher was used inside the building, it set off the fire alarm. Woodlawn Fire company responded and evacuated the building until the chemical powder could be cleaned up.
The boy was taken to LVH for injuries he sustained in the assault, police said. He is facing aggravated assault, simple assault, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct charges.
He is currently being held in the Lehigh County Juvenile Detention Center.
