LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. -

Lehigh County gets a new executive this week -- a self-described "liberal Democrat" who may clash with the county's conservative commissioners.

Bill Hansell will be sworn in Tuesday.

The local government veteran is coming out of retirement to finish the rest of Don Cunningham's term, which ends next December.

Cunningham left to take over the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation.

Hansell supported Lehigh County's unpopular 16% tax hike in 2011, but has said this year's budget will not include an increase.
