EASTON, Pa. -

It is the oldest rivalry in all of college football, and it's rooted right here in the Lehigh Valley.

This afternoon, the annual Lehigh-Lafayette showdown will take center stage as college football's most played series celebrates its 148th birthday.

Lehigh and Lafayette will square off at 1 p.m., at Lafayette's Fisher Stadium in a game with enormous ramifications for Lehigh.

Last week, the Mountain Hawks lost their first game of the year, falling to Colgate in the Patriot League title game. So they need a win today in order to keep their NCAA playoff hopes alive.

Lafayette, of course, would love nothing more than to end Lehigh's playoff hopes.

Lehigh has won the last four meetings between the two long-time rivals.
