A literary legend made a stop at the Lehigh Valley Mall Monday, but he wasn't there to shop.

The mall hosted a "Book Blast" event Monday morning, featuring a reading of the classic children's book, "Lyle, Lyle Crocodile," and Lyle himself was on hand for all the fun.

It was a great way to wrap up the holiday weekend, organizers said.

"It's also a non-school day for some families, so it's something to kind of thank them for shopping at our mall and to give them something to do on this day if they have off," said Amanda Johnson, director of mall marketing.

The kids were encouraged to bring a new or used book to the event, and they'll all be donated to the Whitehall Township Public Library.
