Shots rang out Tuesday morning in the borough of Catasauqua.
Now one man is behind bars after allegedly shooting at his girlfriend during an argument.
Luckily, a passerby got involved and was able to get the woman out of the line of fire.
Residents were shocked when they heard the shots around 10:45 a.m.
One Good Samaritan had no idea what he was getting himself into.
"It sounded like backfire and I really wasn't paying mind to it," said Catasauqua resident Francisco Rosario.
Rosario would soon learn what the noise was.
Just before 11 a.m. Tuesday morning he spotted what appeared to be a woman stuck in the snow near the intersection of Race and Lehigh streets in Catasauqua.
"As soon as I got out of the car, she started screaming that 'he has a gun, he shot my car.' I walked over to her and realized here was this gentleman walking towards us and she was just screaming. 'He tried to shoot me,'" said Rosario.
Rosario said he put the woman in his truck across the street and watched as the boyfriend took off in her car.
Surveillance video from Carmen's Pizza shows the couple fighting minutes before Rosario showed up and what appears to be the boyfriend shooting at the woman's car.
Police arrived within minutes and arrested the man.
The woman was uninjured.
Rosario said while the situation wasn't what it seemed in the beginning, he is glad he stopped and would do it all over again.
"It's the right thing to do. I would hate so see my wife or my daughter, somebody on the side of the road that needs help. I would hope somebody would do the same thing to help," said Rosario.
Police have not released the names of the man and the woman.
They say the man is in jail and will face charges.
