Another long standing Thanksgiving Day tradition was held for folks who prefer flowers and floats over football.
The 86th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade stepped off Thursday morning in New York City.
Dozens of balloons, floats and marching bands helped officially bring in the holiday season.
This year's parade has plenty of local flavor.
One of the first balloons in the parade was a Macy's star that was operated by Louise Kroboth of Nazareth, Northampton Co.
Emmaus High School senior trumpet player Ashley Williams, along with several other local students, were chosen to play in the Macy's All American Marching Band, which is produced by Exeter Twp., Berks Co.-based Music Tours Unlimited.
Williams got to play a solo in front of the Macy's flagship store.
