SAN JOSE, Ca. -

A local gymnast is heading 'across the pond' for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, but not entirely in the way she'd have hoped.

Elizabeth 'Ebee' Price, the Parkettes gymnast from Coopersburg, Lehigh Co. was named as a 'replacement athlete' for the five-person U.S. women's gymnastics squad.

Price, 16, turned heads at the final round of Olympic trials in San Jose, Ca. on Sunday where her scores placed her fourth-best-all-around, ultimately earning her the alternate's position.

Only the first-place finisher at the qualifying trial is guaranteed at spot on the Olympic squad, the final four spots, along with alternates, are chosen by committee.
