Palmerton woman holds up variety store by pretending finger was a gun, police say
A woman was arrested for robbing a variety store by pretending her finger inside her jacket was a gun, officials said.
Laura L. Pastor admitted to police Tuesday night that she robbed the Dollar General store at 440 Main St., Walnutport, Northampton Co., at about 2 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.
Pastor made off with $148 in cash and a $4.95 bottle of pain reliever, after putting her finger into a jacket pocket and telling a store cashier, "This is a stick up. Give me all the money," officials said.
When the cashier could not open the register, Pastor told her, "Give me all the money or someone is going to get hurt," said officials, adding that another store employee stepped in and gave Pastor the money.
Police found the jacket and hat Pastor was seen wearing in a surveillance video in a pile of garbage outside her home at 210 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton, Carbon Co., after Pastor was picked up for questioning at a Rite Aid store at 445 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, officials said.
Pastor, 51, was arraigned on robbery and receiving stolen property charges and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $25,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Oct. 5.
