Police: Donald Lebo leads police on high speed chase with child in car
A 51-year-old Slatington man led police on a high speed chase in northern Lehigh County Monday night.
Monday, around 5 p.m. a Slatington police officer noticed a white Hyundai Accent car in the 1100 block of Oakhurst Drive and recognized Donald Lebo and was aware that his driving privileges were suspended.
When the officer tried to pull Lebo's car over, Lebo sped up and took off at a high rate of speed towards Rt. 873, police said.
The officer said he noticed Lebo's car was not yielding to other vehicles and began passing cars in a no-passing zone. Police were finally able to stop Lebo's car on Mountain Road.
Police said Lebo, of 1152 Oakhurst Drive, also had a young child in the car that wasn't in a car seat or using a seat belt during the chase.
When police got Lebo out of the car, they said he appeared to stagger and smelled like alcohol. They also found several empty alcohol bottles in the car
Lebo was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, recklessly endangering another person, DUI, careless driving, driving while license suspended, failing to have a child in a car seat and related charges.
