EASTON, Pa. -

A woman is facing charges after trying to stop her granddaughter from leaving her home, officials said.

Hazel Brown grabbed Leairrah Brown by the hair and punched her in the face as her granddaughter was trying to exit her apartment at 834 Wolf Ave., Easton, at about 4:10 p.m. Thursday, officials said.

Court papers do not say why Hazel Brown did not want her granddaughter to leave.

Police found Leairrah Brown had redness and scratches on the left side of her face and neck, officials said.

Hazel Brown was arraigned on assault and harassment charges and released on $5,000 unsecured bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Nov. 15.
