Easton Police arrested a woman early Saturday morning who they said tried to hide a stolen gun from officers during a disturbance.
The incident started in the 900 block of Ferry Street, where police said they were dispatched because of a fight and disturbance. Upon arrival, officers said several people were arguing and yelling.
Police said they witnessed an unknown male discreetly hand something to Shaniese Stokes, 24, of Easton. Officers observed Stokes then place the object in her front jacket pocket while turning and walking away from the area. Police then detained Stokes as they were also trying to deal with the hostile crowd.
Police said Stokes was seen throwing a silver revolver underneath a truck in the road. They also said Stokes was struggling with officers and trying to avoid getting handcuffed. At the same time, police said she also tried kicking the revolver, which they determined was stolen and loaded, further underneath the truck.
Officers arrested Stokes, but the male who handed her the stolen gun ran from the scene into the snow. Police said a foot chase ensued, but the male was able to get away.
Stokes was arrested and charged with several weapons charges. She was taken to Northampton County Prison unable to post $100,000 cash bail.
