A man was arrested after an argument with his live-in girlfriend turned physical and the two fell down a flight of steps, officials said.

Jamaine M. McLaughlin was taken into custody at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday, after he came out of a closet where he was hiding in the home he shares with Jasmine Rivera at 411 South Oak St., Freemansburg, Northampton Co., officials said.

Police were told by Rivera's juvenile son that McLaughlin threw his mother down the steps, and that she was hurt, officials said.

Rivera injured her foot and head in the fall, and McLaughlin hurt his arm and head, and both were taken to the hospital, officials said.

McLaughlin, 29, was arraigned on charges of reckless endangerment, assault, harassment and domestic violence and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $15,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Dec. 5.
