South Mountain's natural beauty is being celebrated at Emmaus High School.

Tuesday evening the Emmaus and Upper Milford Environmental Advisory Council presented the first of four programs about South Mountain.

Organizers say the programs are designed to further awareness about the forested mountain landscape that is one of the Lehigh Valley's dominant natural features.

A main goal is to promote the public's role as stewards.

"Our goal is really stewardship, looking at how we as this generation and the next generation can maintain the landscape and the resources we have up there to recreate and appreciate," said Steve Baier of the Emmaus and Upper Milford Environmental Advisory Council.

The program early discussed early settlement of the mountain. The following program will highlight recreational uses.
