You would-not, could-not stop the fun at schools across the Lehigh Valley Friday.

It's National Read Across America Day!

The event marks Dr. Seuss' birthday and it's designed to get kids excited about reading.

Dozens of community members volunteered to read to students and participate in other activities here at Donegan Elementary in Bethlehem.

Organizers say it's a fun day for everyone involved.

"We encourage reading, it's something that's very important to the children and teachers and it's an opportunity to bring the community into the schools," said Sonia Vazquez of Donagan Elementary.

Students at Donegan also got to have their picture taken with the Cat in the Hat himself.
