South Bethlehem fire displaces family
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

After living in their house for 50 years, a Northampton County family lost everything in a devastating fire.

Flames broke out around 3:13 p.m Thursday in a house in the 800 block of Vernon Street in South Bethlehem.

The fire spread to the attached house before crews could get it under control.

Fortunately, nobody was inside at the time. The family had lived in the house since 1963.

Though they are now without a home, they are grateful that nobody was hurt.

Randy Howell said, "We went out for lunch with my sister... for my mom's birthday.
On our way back... I had a bad feeling that it was our house.----We lost everything all at once... in a couple of hours. Fifty years of my life has been there. But... now it's gone."

A Good Samaritan broke a window to get the family dog out of the family's house. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
