Superintendent: Emmaus High School closed Friday due to bomb threat
Emmaus High School will be closed Friday due to a bomb threat, an automated message from the school said.
Thursday evening parents and East Penn families received an automated message explaining that dogs were doing a sweep of the grounds of the school after receiving a bomb threat.
The school evacuated around 3 p.m. Thursday according to an administrative assistant at the school.
In the message, officials said they believe the threat is not credible but as a precaution, all daytime and evening activities on Friday have been cancelled.
Emmaus High School's head basketball coach said the boys varsity basketball game will be moved to Rockne Hall at Central Catholic.
"Our number one goal now is to work with law enforcement to make sure our school is safe and secure, " said East Penn School District Superintendent Thomas L. Seidenberger.
Chuck Ballard, East Penn School District Board President, said a criminal investigation is underway.
Offices at the high school have also been closed.
All other schools in the district are in session on their normal schedules.
