Thief steals $30,000 worth of copper piping from Penn Big Bed Slate Company

WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. -

A Lehigh County business is reeling after losing 3,000 to 4,000 pounds of copper wire to a thief.

Police said Penn Big Bed Slate Company reported that someone broke onto its property through a locked gate sometime between 4:30 p.m. Sept. 21 and 12 noon Sept. 22.

Company officials told police that the thief used a forklift to remove the copper wire, valued at approximately $30,000. The thief then left in an unknown direction.

Penn Big Bed Slate is located at 8450 Brown Street in Washington Twp.
