While the world mourns the passing of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, it just so happens that one of her successors is paying a visit to our area.

Tony Blair spoke at Lafayette College in Easton on Monday. His visit to the school was part of the Lives of Liberty lecture series.

Blair, whose Labor Party languished in opposition as the Conservative Thatcher held power for more than a decade before leaving office in 1990, ended up adopting many of his predecessor's views.

Blair resigned as prime minister in 2007. He was subsequently appointed as a diplomat to the Middle East.
