HEIDELBERG TWP., Pa. -

Are you tough enough? The Lehigh County is  because it's been picked to host the extreme race known as "Tough Mudder" this June.

From running through fire, maneuvering over pits of water, to crawling under barbed wire, and throw in plenty of mud.

"It's really tough. One of the hardest things I've ever done."

Allentown's Erica Meichtry ran in the military style obstacle course race held last year in the Poconos.

But this year the 12 and half mile race littered with obstacles such as a giant wall and electrically charged hanging wires, has been pulled  and planted instead in the hills of Heidelberg Township, Lehigh County.

In 2010 and 2011 the now world famous race, which has events across the globe,  and helps to benefit wounded veterans, was first held at Bear Creek Resort in Longswamp Township, Berks County.

More than 10-thousand mud filled adrenaline junkies turned out for 2011 race.

"It was great exposure for the resort, brought a lot of new people who've never been here before," Bear Creeks Gary Kline said.

The Lehigh Valley Visitors Bureau is hoping for the same boost when the race comes here this June. Last year's event in the Poconos drew 30-thousand.

Tough Mudder says registration for the Lehigh Valley race is nearly full.

At 20 and already a veteran tough mudder, Erica has this advice for anyone who thinks their tough enough to take on the race.

"Train, train ahead of time. It's the best thing you can do," she said.
