Two injured in Route 33 crash

STOCKERTOWN, Pa. -

Two people were injured following a single vehicle crash on Route 33 in Northampton County early Saturday morning.

State police say the crash happened around 4:30 a.m. when the driver of a Jeep Cherokee lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason near the Stockertown off-ramp on Route 33 North.

The vehicle traveled across the exit ramp, slid down an embankment, and struck a cluster of trees, according to police.

Both the driver and the passenger exited the vehicle and fled the area before being located five miles from the scene, according to police.

Both were transported to an area hospital.

The driver was treated for a minor injury and the passenger treated for a moderate injury, according to police.

Police say the driver, 21-year-old Sarah Brown of Stroudsburg, is being charged.
