UPPER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. -

A new police force is preparing for duty.

The Upper Macungie Township Police Department held swearing-in ceremonies.

The first round was held Friday afternoon for sergeants, detectives and patrol officers.
More officers will be sworn in at 7:00.

You'll recall, in March Upper Mac voted to break away from the Berks-Lehigh Regional Police Department which is disbanding at year's end.

All told there will be 28 cops serving the new department including some from Berks-Lehigh.
