BUSHKILL TOWNSHIP, Pa. -

It was a day to honor the troops,  those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Eagle Scouts in Northampton County helped dedicate a new memorial on Monday, a "Veterans' Flagpole."
It now stands at the Bushkill Township Recreation Complex.
The flagpole was created as part of a community service project performed by Scout Sam Miller.
At first,  it was meant to be a place where sports teams could salute the stars and stripes.

But Scout Sam Miller says it turned into more.
"It was originally a flag pole.. for the township... but it was suggested that we name it the Veterans Flagpole... and we decided to dedicate it to our nation's veterans who have served," said Miller
Miller is quick to point out that other scouts helped him along the way.
He also says the township helped pay for materials, and other people donated to help make this memorial a reality.
