The Whitehall School District Superintendent, John W. Corby, recognized the Whitehall Coplay School Board and its individual members at a meeting on Monday night.
Corby announced at the meeting that January is School Director Appreciation Month and proceeded to highlight the hard work and accomplishments of the school board. He mentioned that the nine school board members go out of their comfort zone on a regular basis to help better educate the students of the district as well as deal with parents and community concerns.
He continued on by highlighting each board member individually and announcing their years served to the board and the community. According to Corby, there are over 101 years of combined service and experience divided throughout the nine board members with the longest individual stint being almost 20 years and the shortest being two years.
Board members Josef Fragnito and Wayne Grim were specifically recognized with a plaque and applause for their years of service. The board recognizes every four years served, so Fragnito was honored for his 12 years of service and Grim was honored for his eight years of service.
“I would like to thank Mr. Corby for the kind words,” stated School Board President Eileen Abruzzi. “I would also like to thank Mr. Corby, all of our administrators, and all of our staff for their hard work and for getting through some rather difficult times recently,” she continued.
