Northampton County's district attorney may have his sights set on a state office.

John Morganelli told politicspa.com that he's considering a run for Pennsylvania lieutenant governor.

“This is not an announcement, but I am considering running for lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania in 2014,” he told the website via email. “I believe that as a moderate Democrat from the Lehigh Valley, I would compliment any of our prospective candidates for governor.”

If he does decide to run for lieutenant governor, he'd join other candidates, including Bradford County Commissioner Marks Smith and Harrisburg Councilman Brad Koplinski. Pa. Sen. Daylin Leach,  D-Montgomery Co., is also considering the position.

Morganelli fell to Tom Corbett in the 2008 race for attorney general and was defeated by Jim Eisenhower in 2000 and 2004.
