HELLERTOWN, Pa. -

A woman is facing charges for writing a total of five bad checks worth $235 to a pharmacy and a meat market, officials said.

Mary Schaller, 52, admitted to police that she wrote bad checks on Monday to Yeager's Pharmacy, 654 Main St., and Saylor's & Co. meat market, 1105 Main St., both in Hellertown, Northampton Co., officials said.

The bad checks to Yeager's totaled $117. 11, and $118.31 to Saylor's, officials said.

Police were made aware of the bad checks by a Yeager's employee, and Schaller agreed to be interviewed at Hellertown police headquarters, officials said.

Schaller, of 127 Hickon Road, Richland Township, Bucks Co., was arraigned on charges of theft, receiving stolen property and passing bad checks and released on her own recognizance, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Oct. 4.
