A New Jersey woman was arrested for stealing two blank checks two months ago from her friend who was away on vacation and using them to pay for rent and groceries, officials said.
Caitlynn Flyte took the checks from the home of Jamie Entkos, 440 West Grant St., Easton, at 5 p.m. Dec. 5, 2012, officials said, adding that Flyte had lived with Entkos until the two had a falling out.
Flyte's friend, Ashley Boylan, told police that she and Flyte went to Entkos' house on Dec. 5 to pick up some money Entkos had left for Flyte, officials said.
Boylan said Flyte used a key to enter the home, and that while her friend got the checks from another room, she stayed in the kitchen, officials said.
Flyte made out both of the stolen checks to Boylan's fiance, Dean Collins, officials said, noting one was for $180 and another for $280.
Boylan told police Flyte gave the money to Collins and her to pay for rent and groceries, because Flyte was living with them, officials said.
Flyte, 20, of 3A Sitgreaves St., Phillipsburg, Warren Co., was arraigned Saturday on charges of burglary, forgery and theft and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $15,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. Feb. 15.
