HANOVER TWP., Northampton County, Pa. -

About 1,000 residential and commercial customers of Utilities, Inc.-Westgate will lose their water service for up to 12 hours Tuesday.

The impacted customers are in Hanover Township, just south of Route 22, according to Chuck Madison, an assistant manager at the water company. He said the water cut-off will  include properties on Schoenersville, Jacksonville and Macada roads, just outside Bethlehem.

Service for the entire water system will be shut off no later than  8 a.m. Tuesday and should be restored by 8 p.m.  that day.

Madison said the work may be completed sooner than 8 p.m., "but we want to make sure people are prepared."

He said all impacted customers are being notified by the company.

Crews will flush the system when service is restored, but Madison said customers initially may experience cloudy or rusty water.

Madison said the service disruption will be caused by a drainage construction project on Jacksonville Road that is unrelated to the water system.
