An Allentown man is facing several charges after police said he sold heroin to an undercover informant.
Abimael Sanchez-Santiago, 23, of 395 Allen Street, was arrested Wednesday and charged with possession with intent to deliver, simple possession and criminal use of a communications facility.
According to the criminal complaint, around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, a confidential police informant arranged to buy heroin from a man called 'Cano.'
The informant called a cell phone number and the man who answered the phone directed the informant to meet him at Fourth and Allen streets.
Detectives set up surveillance in the area and saw Sanchez-Santiago going in and out of 395 Allen St., police said.
When Sanchez-Santiago met with the informant, police took Sanchez-Santiago into custody without incident.
He had 100 bags of heroin and a cell phone in his possession, police said.
When police searched his residence at 395 Allen, they found 18 more bags that were identical to the ones found on Sanchez-Santiago, plus packaging materials and $191 in cash, the documents said.
When detectives dialed the number used by the confidential informant, Sanchez-Santiago's cell phone began to ring and showed the detectives' number on the incoming call screen.
