A 24-year-old Nazareth man has been charged with criminal homicide after he admitted fatally stabbing another man early Friday morning in Moore Township, Northampton County.
Police report Andrew Robert Hess killed Richard I. Parker by stabbing him multiple times with a knife.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Friday, police responded to a report of a stabbing in the 300 block of South Hokendauqua Drive in Moore Township, Northampton County.
A Moore Township police officer driving on South Hokendauqua Drive was stopped by Hess, who was in a white GMC Envoy. Hess directed the police officer to the address where the stabbing occurred.
Inside the house, the officer found Parker, who had a stab wound to the lower abdomen and was dead.
The township police officer noticed blood on Hess's face and a possible injury to his shoulder. Hess claimed he and his brother had been in a fight earlier that day.
Jessica Drake, the victim's girlfriend, was in the house. The township police officer detained both Drake and Hess at the house and requested assistance from state police.
Drake told state police that she and Parker were in the garage of the home when there was a knock on the garage door. She said Parker answered the door.
Drake heard a scuffle at the door, then Parker staggered in her direction. He told her: "He stabbed me." The woman immediately called 911.
While doing so, she observed Hess outside the garage.
Hess, who lives in the 400 block of Birch Drive in Nazareth, told police he went to the house, with a knife, to talk to Parker and Drake about "a personal relationship matter."
He admitted to police that he stabbed Parker two times with the knife. He also admitted throwing the knife into a pond on the property.
Parker was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:55 a.m. Friday by Northampton County Coroner Zachery Lysek, who observed multiple stab wounds on the body.
Hess was committed to Northampton County Prison.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. July 25 before Magisterial District Judge Robert A. Hawke in Cherryville.
