Allentown School District is seeking cash donations for a new School Uniform Fund.
The fund will be used to establish a School Uniform Bank in every city school to provide uniforms for students who come to school in inappropriate attire.
Beginning in September, all ASD students will be required to wear a grade-level specific uniform to all 15 elementary schools, four middle schools and two high schools.
School officials said 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to purchasing school uniforms for the School Uniform Banks. All donations are tax deductible. Donors will receive an acknowledgement letter as receipt of their generosity.
Anyone wishing to contribute to the fund should make checks out to the Allentown School District. If the donation is for a specific school, the school name should be written in the “memo” section of the check. Designated donations will be distributed to individual schools and donations to the district will be divided among all ASD schools.
