Attorney Nicholas R. Sabatine III of Nazareth, Northampton Co., has been charged with filing a false tax return.
The charge was announced last week by U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger in Philadelphia.
Sabatine, 62, who resides in Nazareth, faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison, a one-year term of supervised release and a $100,000 fine, plus the cost of prosecution and a $100 special assessment, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's office.
The case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Atty Michael S. Lowe.
