ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

The latest in a series of bomb threats at area businesses was called in to a drug store in Allentown around lunchtime Wednesday.

A bomb threat was reported at the CVS, 1802 Lehigh St., around 12:30 p.m., police said.

The store was evacuated while officers and K-9 units checked out the threat, and the all-clear was given around 12:50 p.m.

Capt. Daryl Hendricks, Allentown Police Dept., said this was the latest in a series of threats called into local businesses and it works like this:

Someone calls into the store and demands that a phone card be activated; otherwise a bomb will be activated in the store.

Hendricks said this happened last week at a Walgreens store in Allentown.

Store have been dealing with the threats on the corporate level, he said.
