Brandin Kasick pleaded no contest to two counts of first degree murder in Lehigh County Court Tuesday and was sentenced to two consecutive terms of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Kasick was charged with killing 82-year-old Althea Walbert and her mentally-challenged daughter, Jeanette, 59, inside their home in Alburtis in March 2011.

Both women suffered sharp force trauma to the necks, according to Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin.

In September 2011, Kasick was arrested at a park in Sarasota, Fla., where he fled shortly after the murders.

He was charged with two counts of criminal homicide and one count each of robbery, burglary and theft by unlawful taking or disposition.

Kasick's case seemed headed for trial after a judge rejected a possible plea deal in court just last week.
