A New York man who with his partner had loaded up a SUV with TVs and appliances stolen from a Walmart was caught with drugs after a foot chase, officials said.

Danny R. Wescott had a bag of marijuana and a bag of cocaine on him when he was taken into custody near a fast-food restaurant after being chase through a busy shopping mall parking lot in Lower Nazareth Township, Northampton Co., around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, officials said.

Walmart security called police when Wescott and another man came back into the store at 3722 Easton-Nazareth Highway after stealing a TV and loading it into a black 2007 GMC Savoy, officials said.

Wescott tried to escape from police who were waiting for him near the SUV after he and his partner ran out of the Walmart with more stolen merchandise, officials said.

The shoplifters stole two TVs, a sound bar, a drill, two blenders and other electrical appliances worth a total of $764.09, officials noted.

Court papers do not identify Wescott's accomplice, or say if he was charged.

Wescott, 31, of Brooklyn, was arraigned on charges of retail theft, disorderly conduct, drug possession and possession with intent to deliver and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $175,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 11 a.m. Dec. 12.
