CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -

The DeSales University Bulldogs may have a new place to play, if school administrators have their way.

The University has plans in the "design and developments phase" for a $16 million dollar athletic facility expansion, Peter Rautzhan, Associate V.P. for Administration and Planning at DeSales said,

Phase one of the plan has been introduced to the Upper Saucon Planning Commission. Discussion of the plan occurred at Tuesday night's planning meeting but no action was taken.

"Phase one" includes a relocation of the Track and Field complex and parking, as well as an addition of two artificial turf fields. This would be the first time DeSales has ever installed turf at the University.

New seating for the baseball and softball fields is also included in the plan.

Along with outdoor sports, the University is looking to improve the gymnasium facilities for general use as well as athletic use.

Rautzhan says the University has been in talks with the township since June, and they will continue seeking approvals through the township and the Desales University Board of Trustees.
