Driver hits man in parking lot; leads police on chase in Allentown
Victim disappears--injuries unknown
A driver involved in a hit-and-run accident leads police on a chase through Allentown, while the victim disappears.
When Allentown police responded to a report of an assault in progress around 2:15 a.m. Monday at Third and Linden streets, they found a large group of people gathered at American Plaza in that area.
Officer Damian Murphy saw a man in the roadway, then watched as a gray Acura pulled out of a parking space and then hit the man.
Murphy activated his emergency lights and chased the Acura east on the westbound one-way Linden Street, then onto Bryan Street, until the Acura stopped in the 200 block of Turner Street, police said.
The driver of the Acura, 26-year-old Alex Ferrer-Martinez, of 2462 E. Albert St. in Allentown, was arrested.
He's charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving the wrong way, reckless driving and careless driving.
Meanwhile, back at American Plaza, the victim hit by the Acura was nowhere to be found.
Police have no description of the victim and no information on what injuries he suffered.
