The Easton City Council approved a resolution to suspend downtown meter enforcement on July 7th for the City’s annual Heritage Day Festival.
“My concern on this is if we suspend for that day what about the other days,” questioned Council Member Roger Ruggles. “What about the other festivals that we have?”
Council Member Elinor Warner, who introduced the resolution for consideration, defended the request stating that the size and nature of the festival required a suspension of meter enforcement for the day.
“This is our Fourth of July celebration,” commented Warner.
“This is really the City’s festival, not City as in City government, but City as a whole,” commented Council Member Michael Fleck.
Warner mentioned that Council will also be looking into altering the ordinance regarding meter enforcement for future festivals and dates.
The resolution to suspend downtown meter enforcement for the Heritage Day Festival was approved by a unanimous vote.
