An Easton police detective credited with solving two homicides was honored as police officer of the year Wednesday night by Easton City Council.
Det. Matthew R. Rush, who joined the department in 2006, has served in the patrol division and on the accident investigation and crises negotiation team.
He has also served as treasurer of the Fraternal Order of Police, Washington Lodge 17, and is active in community events sponsored by the FOP.
Besides the two homicides, the resolution honoring Rush also noted the detective had been instrumental in other homicide cases and other major cases.
