Edward Snowden's father arrives in Moscow
The Lehigh County father of former National Security Agency analyst Edward Snowden is in Moscow to meet with his son, who received asylum in Russia in August.
The 30-year-old analyst has been charged in federal court in Virginia with violations of the Espionage Act.
Edward Snowden was stuck at a Moscow airport for more than a month after his arrival in Hong Kong. He was granted asylum in Russia in August. His whereabouts remain secret.
Snowden's father, Lon Snowden, of Upper Macungie Township, arrived overnight, telling Russian television outside a Moscow airport Thursday that his son is not planning to return to the United States.
Lon Snowden thanked Russia and President Vladimir Putin for sheltering his son. He would not say when or where he will be meeting his son.
