An 80-year-old man bloodied his son's face when he tried to defend his sister from an assault by his dad, officials said.

Robert Boring went after his son, Harry Boring, when his son attempted to stop his dad from shoving around his sister, Brenda Dwinal, at about 6:15 p.m. Monday.

The altercation took place in Robert Boring's home at 407 Carver Drive, Bethlehem, after Boring's son and Dwinal came to his home to speak with him, officials noted.

Harry Boring went to the hospital for treatment of a swollen nose and left eye, officials said.

Robert Boring was arraigned early Tuesday morning on charges of assault and harassment and released on $10,000 unsecured bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 11 a.m. Aug. 30.
