Defendant will spend up to 52 years in prison
Del Robyn Fenty was sentenced Wednesday to 26 to 52 years in prison for attempted criminal homicide.
Fenty pleaded guilty in October.
On Sept. 4, 2012, he assaulted his wife and opened fire on Allentown police officers.
At a preliminary hearing in November 2012, several city police officers testified that Fenty fired at them after they responded to reports of a domestic disturbance in the first block of North 3rd Street.
The nearby Harrison Morton Middle School was locked down and the American Parkway shopping center was evacuated during that September incident.
Three officers suffered minor injuries, although none were hit by any shots fired by Fenty, who was 41 at the time.
After exchanging gunfire with police, Fenty fled through a second floor window and was able to elude capture
Days after the incident, he was arrested in New York City and eventually extradited back to Pennsylvania.
