First Niagara Bank robbed on Route 100
Officials think same man robbed another bank last month
Police in Lehigh County are asking for help in tracking down a bank robber.
A man has hit at least two banks in the area recently, Upper Macungie police said.
The most recent robbery happened around 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Niagara Bank, 861 N. Route 100, near the intersection with Tilghman Street.
The robber threatened to use a weapon, but never showed one, said police, who believe the same man was also behind a holdup at the Bank of America a short distance away on Nov. 20.
The robber was described as a white man between the ages of 25 and 40, wearing a tan sport jacket over a light blue shirt, blue jeans and a blue New York Yankees baseball cap. He was last seen carrying a single strap tan satchel over his shoulder.
The robber got into a later model, silver 4-door GMC Sierra or Chevrolet Silverado full-sized pickup truck, with a factor sticker on the rear side panels that may read 'Z71' and stolen Pennsylvania license plate JKE-5651.
The truck fled west on Tilghman Street and then south on Route 100.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
