EASTON, Pa. -

A man punched his girlfriend and caused her to hit head on a front porch railing, officials said.

Gary P. Fehr attacked his girlfriend around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday at his home in the 1300 block of Ferry Street in Easton, officials said.

The woman suffered a cut on the right side of her head that took five stitches to close, officials said, adding that hospital personnel called police when the woman received treatment.

Fehr, 44, was arraigned on assault and harassment charges and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $5,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. May 15.
