ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Officials have closed some streets in downtown Allentown while crews work to repair a gas leak.

A small amount of natural gas was detected in the area of Eighth and Liberty streets around 8:30 Wednesday morning.

UGI officials said the odor was from a leaking pipe fitting.

Crews made the area safe, but repairs will continue next week, according to UGI.

No gas was detected in any homes and there were no evacuations.

Police closed Eighth Street and Liberty streets while crews worked on the repair.
