ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

If you are between the ages of 8 and 14, take a chance and go Kart racing.

The Lehigh Valley Grand Prix's Junior League Kart racing kicks off this Saturday, Jan. 11 at 9:00 a.m.

The eight-week program, held every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., is the perfect opportunity for parents to get their children familiar with indoor kart racing.

The cost to sign up for the Junior League program is $199.

“Kids absolutely love getting behind the wheel of a vehicle, something only grownups typically get to do in their world,” said Michael McCreary, partner at Lehigh Valley Grand Prix. “It’s a huge thrill and you can see their confidence grow as they get better and better each and every week,” he said.

Signups for the Junior League start this Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and qualifying races start at 10:00 a.m.

Children are divided into two separate racing classifications based on age and prior racing experience.

Each Saturday for the next eight weeks, Junior League drivers will compete in a qualifying race that will determine the starting position for the feature race participants.

On the last day of the eight-week program, Lehigh Valley Grand Prix will hold a party and awards ceremony for all the participants.

Parents interested in signing up their children for the Junior League program should contact Lehigh Valley Grand Prix at 610-432-RACE (7223) or send an email to competition@lehighvalleygrandprix.com.

Lehigh Valley Grand Prix could also be a venue for a variety of events.
