BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

Bethlehem police are investigating what led to gunshots being fired in a neighborhood located next to an elementary school.

Police say multiple shots were fired in the area of Main Street, Fairview and West Goepp around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. No one was injured in the gunfire and a parked car got hit, according to police.

The gunfire happened in an area that includes the William Penn Elementary School and a daycare center.

A resident in the neighborhood says he is shocked the incident happened in a neighborhood he describes as "quaint, quiet." He tells 69 News he's never recalled this type of incident ever happening in his neighborhood.

Police say the investigation is continuing.
