Homeless man caught with dozens of stolen toothbrushes in his underwear also facing drug charges, police say

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A homeless man nabbed with almost four dozen stolen toothbrushes and two packs of cards in his underwear also had drugs and drug paraphernalia on him, officials said.

Rafael Ocasio-Marrero was stopped with 44 toothbrushes and two packs of Uno playing cards in his underwear when he tried to leave the CVS pharmacy at 305 West Fourth St., Bethlehem, around 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, officials said.

The merchandise was worth $148.66, they added.

During a search, police also found two hypodermic needles and a baggie with cotton balls in his underwear and a baggie with a small amount of marijuana in his jacket pocket, officials noted.

Ocasio-Marrero, 25 was arraigned on charges of retail theft and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $1,500 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Nov. 13.
