BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A man is now behind bars for throwing his girlfriend out of bed and beating her last week after she questioned him about a body odor, officials said.

Jack T. Bilger attacked his girlfriend in their apartment in the 600 block of Cherokee Street in Bethlehem around 11:15 p.m. Thursday after she said she smelled another woman's scent on him, officials said.

The victim said that after Bilger threw her off the bed and into a wall, he punched her in the nose and shoved her, causing an injury to her leg, officials said.

The woman had a bruised lip and left cheek and a cut on her right leg when police arrived, officials said.

Bilger, 43, was arraigned Tuesday evening on charges of assault and harassment and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $10,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. Sept. 19.
