A man roughed up his girlfriend after he let her back into their home following a quarrel over her whereabouts, officials said.

James A. Cozze grabbed the woman by her shirt, threw her against a desk and pushed her several times, injuring her forearm and cheek, in their home in the 2900 block of Charlotte Avenue, Palmer Twp., Northampton Co., around 4 p.m. Thursday, officials said.

The couple's 2-year-old son was in the home, officials added.

Cozze had locked the home's doors and windows after getting into an argument over the phone with the woman while she was out running errands, and the woman spent about 10 minutes knocking on the door before Cozze answered and let her in, officials said.

The woman told police she set her phone to record before she went inside because she knew Cozze would be angry, officials said.

Cozze, 30, was charged with assault and harassment and released on $15,000 unsecured bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. May 3.
