BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

Northampton County Democrats are sending Bethlehem's mayor onto the general election as their candidate for county executive.

John Callahan has been declared the unofficial winner of the race over his two opponents, Glenn Reibman and Lamont McClure.

Callahan has been Bethlehem's mayor for the past nine years. He used that experience as a major factor in his campaign, pointing to the Sands Casino in one debate as proof he can bring new development to the area.

John Stoffa, the current county executive, announced his intentions not to run for re-election last year.

Callahan will now face off against John Brown, the Republican candidate, in the general election in November.
